Getting started, troubleshooting, and how to reach us.

Getting started

How do I install ACKtive?

ACKtive is distributed as an unlisted App Store app. You’ll receive a direct App Store link from your family or organization—open it on your iPhone to install. The app does not appear in App Store search.

How do I sign in?

ACKtive uses Sign in with Apple. Tap sign in on the welcome screen and authenticate with your Apple ID. Your name is used for family assignments and shared notes.

How do I invite my co-parent?

After creating your family, go to Settings → Family Access (or tap Invite from Explore if you’re the family owner). Share the iCloud invite link or QR code with your co-parent. They sign in with their own Apple ID and accept the share to see the same family schedule.

How does sync work?

Your family events, people, and notes sync through Apple’s CloudKit in a private shared iCloud zone. Both parents see updates when online. Changes merge automatically; if you edit the same field at the same time, the most recent change wins.

Calendar & notifications

Why does ACKtive ask for Calendar access?

Calendar access is optional. If you enable Apple Calendar mirror in Settings → Calendar Sources, ACKtive can write family events to a dedicated calendar so they appear in Apple Calendar, widgets, and on your Lock Screen.

Why does ACKtive ask for Camera access?

Camera access is used only when you scan a family invite QR code from another parent. ACKtive does not store or upload photos from your camera roll.

Explore & Nantucket catalog

What is the Explore tab?

Explore shows a read-only catalog of Nantucket camps, beaches, dining, points of interest, community events, and school calendars. When you add something to your plan, ACKtive creates a private family event in your iCloud share. Catalog browsing does not add events automatically.

Troubleshooting

My co-parent doesn’t see updates

Confirm both devices are signed into iCloud, have a network connection, and that the co-parent accepted the family share. Open ACKtive and wait a few seconds on the Today tab. If issues persist, try force-quitting and reopening the app on both devices.

Explore content isn’t loading

The catalog requires an internet connection. Pull down to refresh on the Explore tab. If you’re on a restricted network, try cellular or another Wi‑Fi network.

I need to leave or delete my family

Go to Settings → Family Access. Co-parents can leave the share; the family owner manages access. Deleting the app from your device does not delete shared family data for other members.
